Doubling up the Crossfit Fun

I did 6:30pm last night and 6:30am this morning of the free Crossfit Austin workouts … super fun! Remember that this is FREE Crossfit workouts put on by two of my friends, Austin natives, until they open their NEW South Austin Crossfit gym in mid-to-late November. Yay building delays=free workouts!

So last night’s workout was pretty hard, but we also had a more active warmup than the other session I attended. We did lots of jump roping, which I love, and then the workout included 400M runs, which was fun.

STATS: My heart rate got up to 208, and for the full warmup-workout-cooldown 45-minute session I burned 356 calories. Plus, my heart rate stayed around 140 for a ten or so minutes afterward, then had come down to 100 by thirty minutes. My resting heart rate sits at right around 70, so keeping my heart rate elevated just that much means lots of extra metabolizing and calorie burning for me!

This morning I rolled out of bed straight to the lake and was there for the 6:30am workout. Obviously I forgot to wear my heart rate monitor, because who is in their right mind at 6am?! The workout was intense though … good warmup with jogging, then “simple” workout alternating between dumbell swings and pullups. For my girlish lack of upper body strength, I got to do jumping pull-ups, which were quite fun. The first few times. By the time I had to do 12, and then 14, in a row, I hated the damn things!

No stats to report from this morning. BUT I am energetic and lively, which is a plus about working out in the morning! Next up: 6:30pm Crossfit tomorrow (Wednesday) night.
