Yoga Challenge | Feel Good Friday 110918

I’m doing BFree Yoga‘s Happy Body Happy Mind 21 Day Challenge, and it’s pretty lax—do some yoga, meditate, feel good, boom. But I wanted to do all 21 days of yoga in a row as part of it.

Well, per yogic tradition, the universe has other plans. Great plans! Fun plans! But not yoga-every-day plans.

So now I am trying to double up to still make it happen, and planning on some hotel room video yoga, and stressing over it—which, I understand, is kind of missing the point. Or at the least is not very yogi of me.

So, I get it, Yoga Challenge. Why I signed up for you on a whim is not to get in more yoga though that’s certainly been fun but to remember the more spiritual elements of yoga, the meditation, the grounding, the stillness, the peace, the ease in discomfort.

I’ve gotten in 11 classes though 🙂

This week, I got to enjoy an OC-style night out with my mom when we went wine tasting at the Austin Winery which is a MUST DO in Austin. All their wines are <1g residual sugar* which means NO HANGOVERS I mean health and they source all their grapes from biodynamic farms. They’re just doing things right and making excellent wines in the process. It’s hard to name a favorite, but I’m pretty sure my favorite was the Work Horse, which is surprising but delicious.

Other things I’m grateful for: my door is in! my house is changed! … buuuut it’s not finished yet so it doesn’t feel, uh, finished, yet; a super fun night at Dave & Buster’s (of all places!); PAT GREEN at Nutty Brown with my childhood bestie was everything I expected and maybe even more; Tiny Boxwoods Sunday brunch was as delicious as billed if a very laid-back (read: slow) experience; I planted my herb garden (!!! now cross your fingers and thumbs that I can keep a green thumb instead of my usual black one); we legit won a volleyball game in our doubles league that is now over; I made badass crockpot chili; I procured all the ingredients for both a Bensonhurst AND a Manhattan (I bought some delicious homemade—by someone else, obviously—bitters); and today I’m headed off for a bit of a staycation in Austin at Hotel Van Zandt with Bumble.

Hold up, y’all, this is crazy. I felt like this week was long and hard and stressful yet when I sat down to write this list and reflected on what happened since last Friday when I published last week’s Feel Good Friday, I came up with thing after thing that was fun, that I am grateful for, that I am excited about. Holy shit! THIS IS HOW GRATITUDE WORKS.

*Entire companies are being built on finding wines that do the things (low sugar, organic or biodynamic) Austin Winery is doing just because they think it’s the right thing to do … amazing. Ipso facto they either are too humble or need some marketing help but that is neither here nor there. Also, Dry Farm Wines introduced me to the joy that is German Pinot Noir. I haven’t had a bad one yet (ok, I’ve only had 3—1 from Dry Farms, 1 from Central Market, and 1 from Total Wine … but completely random grabbed-off-the-shelf wines actually being good? I’ll take it).
