Turns Out There’s Much to Be Grateful For | Feel Good Friday 050820

I am restless. I’ve seen memes saying that it’s a very American thing to be bored by being under quarantine this long … is it? Or is it a very American thing to continuously question authority and the efficacy of our government’s policies? I’d like to think it’s the latter. But who really knows what’s right?

Nonetheless, in this gratitude list I have so much to be thankful for. I kicked off my morning with a run, and I am so grateful I am alive, able to run both physically and societally (see my #RunWithMaud thoughts here), and that moving my body is something I truly and deeply love to do.

There’s much to be thankful for this week.

Practicing for SUP DOGS outings, our new paddle board gang.
Socially distant Cinco de Mayo
  • On a Zoom call, someone complimented my background… IT’S MY OFFICE. Hahahaha oh thanks!
  • An impromptu PP hang (Parents’ Porch)
  • FY hangs (Front Yard)
  • The MAC is getting down with the acronyms
  • Me: “Dad open a new tab.” Dad: “The big plus?” Me: “Yeah” Dad: “I got a new tab! I’ve never done that before.” Me:
  • New plant babies. I really hope I can keep them alive.
  • Data Science Salon Elevate‘s first virtual salon was a complete success! Great attendance, great talks, great networking at the happy hour and coffee chats connected to the event. It’s really cool to be part of transitioning something that’s normally IRL into online, and see it actually work!
  • Book editing. Hanging climbing ropes. Putting down new sod. I love how much time I get to spend with my dad.
  • DM slides. Hilarity for all, but especially for my matchmaker work wife searching profiles from afar.
  • I am thankful for who I am. Like many, this period of self-reliance has me deeply reflecting on who I am, what I stand for, who I want to be. And while she is and always will be a work in progress, I am grateful to feel confident about who I am.
