Compliment or Insult: Catfish Edition

Probably because I am a true faux celeb, I was recently the victim—and I do NOT use this word lightly—of some identity theft via someone creating a fake Facebook account with my photos and trolling some Land Rover forums. Facebook was extremely unhelpful in taking down this profile, and it still exists today. Only by submitting multiple copyright violation claims with evidence that the “work” was my own was I able to get the photos removed. And I repeat, the profile still exists to scam people today.

I get that I have chosen to blog about my life, and share plenty of photos. I get that I have chosen to be, at some level, available as a public persona. But it doesn’t change how absolutely violated I felt to see someone else posing as me!

In the midst of my extreme frustration with Facebook, I did get some pretty great support from my friends. Including but not limited to this ridiculous comment:
