I Am a Domestic Goddess*

*This is not at all true

However! My Imperfect Foods box has made me feel like a domestic goddess because it has expanded what I’m cooking with its delicious products, not just produce. Behold, mahi mahi with carrot greens pesto over sauteed chard and kale:

WTF is carrot greens pesto? Idk, I literally had to google if carrot greens are edible (there’s some controversy but if you can eat nightshades you can eat carrot greens) but this pesto is bomb and doesn’t require pine nuts that cost like $20/lb. Here’s the recipe, I had everything you need on hand—and I generally speaking have nothing on hand**.

Carrot green pesto on steelhead trout with organic brussels, zucchini, kale, chard, and mushrooms (+ right rice not from imperfect foods)

The mahi filets are not “restaurant perfect” but they are “single person making her own food and eating it in front of the TV perfect”. I have no idea what’s wrong with any of the rest of the food I got in my first box, it all looks perfect to me, including the steelhead trout I ALSO doused in carrot green pesto.

I put that pesto on everything, and I swear it got better the longer it sat in my fridge. Here’s an open-face breakfast sammy with farm-fresh eggs and raw cheese from Imperfect Foods, again, no idea what’s wrong with them—a lot of times it’s just excess inventory.

And I discovered amazing yogurt. I don’t even like yogurt, by my neighbros eat a lot of it so I was curious, and I ordered this Graziers grass-fed happy cow yogurt and it is ridiculously delicious.

Here’s exactly what I ordered, so you can see the prices.

During the course of the pandemic quarantine, I have tried a few different grocery delivery services. I think Imperfect Foods is by far the best value, with amazing brands to discover and the best selection of products across categories—produce, protein, and snacks. Plus it’s got me experimenting like a personal chef… I made my own vegetable broth last night. $10 off here.

For what it’s worth, I also enjoyed Hungryroot’s grocery deliveryy ($15 off code), but their selection is more limited and is not organic.

**Life hack: I have discovered that basically if you keep peeled garlic and fresh lemons on hand you can make ANYTHING and it will all taste gourmet.
