The Apartment Search

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of apartments.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ahhhh, the apartment search. In typical Lyssa-style, I went upside down with this one: I moved from the dorms into a house I bought with my brother, skipping the apartment hunt altogether. Then, upon moving to Aspen I had to endeavor to find an apartment—twice!—before the most recent move took me to Newport Beach, where I again started The Quest for the Perfect Apartment. Ha. And I thought Aspen had some of the highest rent in the country.

I am pretty specific—and thereby extraordinarily frustrating to those around me—about what I want. I do not want a complex, I want a hidden gem. Must allow dogs (obvi). Must be within walking distance of both the beach and other things. What other things? Doesn’t matter, just things. I tried the usual craigslist and craigslist amalgamators (word?), added a few apps, but ultimately resorted to the tried-and-true Drive Around method. Inefficient, perhaps, but highly effective. In that I found the perfect house in the perfect location and pay an absurd amount of money to live there.

This is all to introduce to you apartments.com. Which also has an app. And a twitter @aptscom with tons of moving and general community living advice. Post-facto, I gave it a shot. Were I searching for an apartment complex, I would have loved this site. All the photos I could ever want, easy to navigate, and all the info you need—transportation reports! pet policy!—in handy drop-down menus, plus recs for nearby apartments. Yes please.

They also have a under-development feature that will compile reviews, which is super cool and will help give you that drive-around-talk-to-the-neighbors-get-a-sense-of-the-vibe feeling that you can usually only get by driving around and talking to the neighbors to get a sense of the vibe.

If you’re moving or even thinking of it and like the apartment life, give apartments.com a click!
