I want to be Olivia Pope, only not in Washington, just in life. It took me a few years to start watching Scandal (and I haven’t watched this season yet), but boy did I binge-watch once I did! At last night’s Oscars, Kerry Washington looked every bit the power player in her black-leather-bustier dress with a flowy white bottom—two shoes if I’ve ever seen them.
But of course it’s her boss makeup that makes her look so good, and makeup and skincare brand Younique sent me a rundown of how they’d do it. Check it out:
Start with Younique Refreshed Rose Water ($29), to prep skin, add hydration, and subtract redness and oil. For makeup, various shades of brown shimmer eyeshadow with black eyeliner fully outlining the eye for drama. Then finish with a clear gloss like Younique Lucrative Lip Gloss in Loyal ($15) for shine.
For her faux-hawk pony, create a tousled ponytail by adding volume straight from the root. Take loose wisps in the front of head and spray with hairspray first. Sweep hair back loosely on the front and tight on the sides to add interest from the front.
Oh, and then you have to be confident, sassy, and calm, all at once. Because that’s how you actually become a boss.
