Welcome to the ‘hood, Austin Loco, an adorable new boutique on Kerbey Lane in Brykerwoods

Kerbey Lane is home to a host of adorable old houses, but you’d be for forgiven for never noticing them, even when you’re waiting for your table at Kerbey Lane Cafe. Most of them house random businesses—Drumz, I’m looking at you—so when colorful Adirondack chairs draped in Mexican blankets suddenly appear, they catch your eye.

When I popped into the shop over the weekend, they were on just their third weekend of being open. There are racks of “Austin Loco” branded tees and baja hoodies, rolls of Mexican blankets— 4′ x 8′ for only $30!—little gifties, a kids room, and the ahhhhhmazing fuzzy socks ($12) my bestie and I picked up in prep for our Sunday snuggle sesh.

The shop has a bit of an eclectic selection, but it’s perfect for a quick stop-n-shop, and something the Brykerwoods neighborhood definitely needs more of to complement the (read: often higher-end) restaurants and shops that are currently in the mix. According to the sister manning the register, the brother owner already runs two surf shops in South Texas, which could explain the Mexican spice that seems sprinkled on everything.
