Austin is getting its own Ace of Cakes this weekend with the That Takes the Cake sugar art show and cake competition.

See what top bakers from around the country can do with fondant, the pliable confection used to create lavish, 3-D cakes, and watch demonstrations. There will be kids’ cookie and cupcake decorating and plenty of samples. Presented by the Austin Capital Confectioners Cake Club, the 5th annual event is Saturday and Sunday at the Crockett Center, 10601 N. Lamar Blvd.
