Raaaaar Strength in THE GYM!!

I lifted heavy weights today! Still don’t have a gym membership, but scoped out one of the gyms in town and got in an all strength workout today. LOVE.

500M row + abs

I realized that it has been over SIX WEEKS since I’ve lifted weights. I miss it. I miss the challenge, the raw power you feel in yourself, and the bulging muscles. (see: shoulder injury, sad panda) My strength hasn’t gone down considerably–these numbers are low, but none of the sets felt kill-myself-heavy, all were done unbroken, and I felt like my mechanics are all still firing. My poor shoulders are weak though, because they’ve borne the brunt of the inactivity. 🙁

The best thing about this gym? They had an ICE BATH! I’ve never seen a gym with its own ice bath before. Like, literally, the same thing we had in the training room in college, where I’d go hang out with the Olympic athletes that ran for SMU’s track team before it got cut, freezing in the ice bath. Or at Rice, where I’d go after hours of pickup basketball with my track star roommate. I love me some ice bath. And by love, let me clarify that no one loves freezing to death, but I love how it heals all aches and pains almost immediately.

This particular gym is probably too expensive for me, though, so I may have to move this ice bath to the Roaring Fork River. Hey, it’s all part of Nature’s Garage Gym, right?
