Regular readers know that FGF has been sporadic at best throughout the past year—not because gratitude is less important by any stretch, but perhaps because I’ve been less chronically online. So I think it’s time we move to FGD: Feel Good Day. Whatever day I post. I will still aim for Fridays, but this is a place I can add some softness and stop feeling like I’m letting myself down.
Things I am grateful for at this beginning of a new year:
- Gorgeous weather, finally, in Texas!
- My childhood bestie’s farm. It’s gorgeous, and I’m so proud of her for going for it. I’m also so grateful for a lifelong friend like her, where our families get to spend the day together and it’s just easy and slow and wonderful, without any fuss. I’m so lucky.
- My absolutely amazing daughter, a crazy sentence to type. She’s the best thing in the whole entire world. She’s smiley and expressive and laughs and learns and is just the most fun.
- My steadfast husband, our road is sometimes rocky but I am really grateful I chose him for my life
- Feeling confident in Bob with kids, it’s such a gift not to have any worry about him around all the amazing babies and toddlers in his life
- The Cabin, a little nook for us in Colorado while we continue to figure out how to get to the mountains but also be close to family
- Skiing! It looks different as we switch off taking care of baby girl, but I still love the feeling of whooshing down the hill
- Calls with my bests, always amazing and I feel so loved
- My new to me car. I really love it. I had to drive a loaner last week, and it sucked.
- My mama
- Babysitter, Friday football game, beef short ribs, and we are who we are (friends coming over)
Today I’m having a bit of a recharge day, catching up on contract work, job applications, emails, life stuff (still fighting with the health insurance company, that’s fun), and it’s all making me grateful for a slow(ish) start to 2026. It’s gonna pick up and fly soon, so trying to lay a strong foundation now!
