Boxing

I have now gone three times with a friend to boxing class. It’s not class, exactly, it’s usually two or three of us being coached by a former title-winning boxer. I didn’t know what to expect when I first went, it’s not like I’m a huge boxing fan. Sure, I watch the occasional fight when there’s a party and men involved, and I liked The Fighter. But aspiring boxer this does not me make.

However, boxing training is a lot like CrossFit. Lots of pushups, situps, and intense cardio followed by rest. Not to mention the actual boxing part of boxing: it’s choreography, like dancing with strength. I love learning new sports, so it seems only fitting that I would enjoy boxing, but at the same time, I’m kind of like, I like boxing?!

But I do. It’s confidence-building. It’s powerful. It’s fun. I’m going to keep doing it, although I don’t expect to ever actually fight. I’m not aggressive enough for that. 🙂

And, like CrossFit, elite boxers have sic bodies…
