Baobab Beauty Bliss

If it is possible to love a lotion passionately, it is this.

This is Sienna Naturals’ Baobab Oil Moisturizing Body Cream, a new product from Sienna Naturals.

A few years ago, when shea was shooting to stardom in beauty products, it looked like Baobab might too. But somehow the funnily-named African fruit escaped mass popularity, while its greasier cousin shea became ubiquitous in moisturizing products. So I was pretty excited to try samples from the launch of this new baobab beauty line, which utilizes Baobab in a moisturizer, shampoo, and conditioner.

My absolute favorite from the line is the Baobab Oil Moisturizing Body Cream, which manages to be thick but incredibly absorbent, leaving none of the shea sheen and all of the moisture in hands and legs. It contains Baobab Oil, Shea Butter, Grape Seed Oil and Vitamin E for a four-power-punch. I tested this product in the dry mountains of Utah and the California coast, and it held up beautifully. If you can stay moisturized at 8,000 feet, you’ve got a winner! I will buy this on my own dime and love it.

But here’s the more amazing part: I assumed that the Baobab Oil Moisturizing Hair & Body Shampoo would be too heavy or rich for my fine hair, even in dry mountain air. Nobody wants that day-three greasy look with freshly washed hair, which is what I usually get from moisturizing shampoos. But this shampoo, which also has Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Geranium and Lavender Oils, didn’t weigh my fine hair down in Utah (more reasonably expected) OR—miracle of miracles—California! I went so far as to use the Leave-in Conditioner with coconut oil (though I admit I rinsed it out) and my hair was still fluffy, shiny, voluminous, and soft.

The 2-ounce travel trio shown above is only $12, while individual products range from $16-$24 in 4- or 8-ounce sizes. Click here to order Sienna Naturals from Amazon.
