I wrote this Friday: I have Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (which is a virus not a disease). Most adults do not get this. Most daycare children do. Sanne and I flip-flopped that: I got it, she did not. It feels like you are walking on hot glass, you can barely drink and certainly not eat because of the sores in your mouth and on your tongue, and your hands are cracking in front of you, except they aren’t, and they just keep cracking. I was alternating tylenol and ibuprofen like I was when I tore my achilles, and it was still more painful than that. Now, I’m almost all the way past it after a week versus the year recovery for my achilles, but still. It’s painful. I assume I was more susceptible because I’d been sick for so long, but I cannot WAIT to be healthy. Holy moly.
That was obviously a forced slow down, as I could barely do anything. Just being in chronic pain is so all-consuming. And at the same time, I signed two deals and am, perhaps against my will, now a proud executive in a robust fractional marketing practice.
I’m not saying it’s because I had to slow down, but it *does* make me think of the old “slow is smooth, smooth is fast” military(?) saying.
It is now Wednesday: I am feeling good and the HFM is but a few off-color marks on my hands and feet. I have three clients and am double- and triple-booked in calls and sorting through multiple calendars and email addresses and chat applications. Like, it’s a lot of tools within one company, much less three. Did I mention that I accidentally committed to a fractional marketing executive practice? Lolz.
But it’s fun. It’s really, really fun to be engaged in work and building and busy.
