you are my celebrity

There are only so many things I can be serious about at once

I got to work out with the lovely Coach Alex Janss’ class last night at CrossFit Central RunTex. She is a great coach and has an easy rapport with her clients, so it was a blast to drop in.

The workout, however, featured the elusive handstand pushups. I’ve chronicled my HSPU journey extensively–from slamming my head into the ground at sectionals to a handstand competition with That Ripped Guy of Mine(TM) to … well, now. I haven’t worked much on HSPU recently, and I’ve admittedly gotten worse at them. I wanted to feel bad about myself, but I said something without thinking that put it into perspective.

Someone I admire and respect said, “When are you getting serious? You’re such an athlete.”

I replied, “There are only so many things I can be serious about at once.” What I didn’t say is that in my choices I have clearly declared that CrossFit is not one of those things, for now. Perhaps it will change soon. I’d like it to. But work is my biggest priority right now, without question.

So there’s that. WOD:

Untimed
7 Rounds
225# deadlift x 3
HSPU x 7
