Tevas vs Havianas for Travel Sandals or Flip Flops

It took me a long time to come around to wearing Tevas (still a no on Chacos) but now that I do, I love them—for outdoor pursuits. (sidebar: did you KNOW the word Tevas looks shockingly like Texas at a glance??) ((sidebar sidebar: I saw on instagram so it must be true that Norwegians use “Texas” as a substitute for awesome … like my Europe trip is gonna be so Texas … yup, those Norwegians are gonna love me))

I wear Havianas with ankle straps for traditional flip flop uses (beach, pool, knockaround). I haven’t worn true flip flops since at least 2014 thanks to a bunch of videos about how awful they are for your feet. Besides, there are alternatives, so why bother?

For my upcoming trip (some adventuring, hiking, commuting, biking, circling (?!), and who knows what else), internet, I need your help: which shoe is better?!

A little nerdy, a lot more functionality with the Teva?

Plain, good comfort with the Havianas, with enough stability to do in pinch for long walks?

I often buy Havianas cheap at Nordstrom Rack, but a super cute rose gold pair is only $15 on amazon right now too donotpressbuynowdonotpressbuynowdonotpressbuynow!

I am packing super light, so it’s one pair of sandals + one pair of nikes and that’s it.
