Memorial Day is a ridiculous time to try and be on the lakes in and around Austin, mainly because everyone else is trying to do the same! Of course, that’s the very reason you want to be there. This year I’m taking the easy route: Austin SSC’s Party Barge.
I’ve been playing sports with the ASSC for over a year now, but wasn’t ever too interested in their party barges (they do them on every major holiday in the summer), probably because I can be a bit shy without a football/volleyball/basketball in my hand. But a few friends wanted to go on this one, which is just the excuse and social lubricant I need! Um, the ticket also includes all the beer you can drink, so that could help the social scene as well.
The pictures from past barges show happy people (in bikinis! and swim trunks!), water slides, and lots of fun games, so it should be a good time. And if I enjoy playing sports with and against these people, shouldn’t I enjoy their company as well? That IS, after all, the whole idea of playing sports with and against them …
