Normally “Soft Openings” are for friends and family and other invited guests. But given that Highball, Tim & Karrie League’s new bowling-karaoke-diner venue next to its South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse, has created a flyer for the event, we’re pretty sure everyone is invited. And that they must have worked the kinks out weeks ago when they invited all of Fantastic Fest over for a party.
Tonight’s Soft Opening of Highball has a TRIPLE 3D THEME. 3 DIMENSIONS OF SIGHT – there will be TVs projecting 3D images all over the place, and hard-to-believe rumor has it that some screens are 3D but you don’t need glasses … and there’s rumors about a dance floor made of those screens with plexiglass … Qua Shark dance floor whaa?
Add to that some famous bowling lanes (from some movie … Big Lebowski?), 8 private karaoke rooms, and a stellar diner menu and you’ve got, well, another success story from the owners of our favorite movie theatre in town. I’ve heard they even stole the best chefs from each of the theatres.
