For Days New T-Shirt Concept or Lifestyle OS, Depending on How Nerdy You Are

Or perhaps dirty hippie. I don’t know, but what I do know is that For Days, a new t-shirt company positively ticks off all of my boxes. They say: With a unique closed loop system, For Days is deeply committed to manufacturing innovation and waste reduction. We empower our members to free themselves from the burden of ownership and participate in a new OS for living.

Not only are the tees certified organic cotton and dyes (GOTS (global-standard.org)), but the company buys a carbon offset for shipping, uses recyclable packaging, renewable resource manufacturing, made in LA … and for $12 a month. Twelve! You can’t even buy 2 CBD lattes for that (whoops looks like I’m still bitter about the $8 CBD latte I once bought months ago). You’re essentially renting 3 tees for $12/mo, though you can buy them permanently for $48 or exchange them any time for different ones. Stain? Exchange. Tear? Exchange. Bagged out? Exchange.

My first drawer included two women’s styles and men’s tee. They come in basic colors (white, black, grey, red, maroon, navy, blue) and basic and not-so-basic fits. The v-neck is adorable, but it took a second shipment to get the size right. The men’s tee didn’t fit me right, but the tank I ordered to replace it is a current fave. The black scoopneck I ordered fits well but is a bit boring—totally acceptable in a tee.

I’m now in my second month, and I do have to say my initial excitement has waned. It’s nice to have the option to swap in and out, but if these aren’t the only tees in your closet, I’m not sure you get enough wear out of them to justify the $12/month price tag.

For instance, I recently bought a sweet EVCR tank for $15 (with free shipping) that I like just as much as the For Days tank.

But, that’s why this is considered a lifestyle change or decision less than a practical one. Because then you wouldn’t have to re-buy, just recycle, and you have less stuff, which as someone who just packed her second car up for a cross-country drive, is definitely a good thing.

I’m not sure I’ll continue to use For Days, but I am glad I tried it!
