2024: Peace

Last year—and I had to look this up, what word I chose last year—the word I chose was L O V E. And yes, I had fallen in love, with both of my boys, but looking back I am struck by how much LOVE I received, gave, and was surrounded by in 2023. I mean!! And the more obvious.

But that year of love was also BUSY. So damn busy.

Busy learning how to love, how to build a life for two that has been for one for a long time, busy building with a new job, busy looking for a mountain place, busy with travel and adventure. Good busy! But busy.

SO, my hope for 2024 is that—while we’re busy now—on the balance I will have peace.

I will figure out how to balance ambition with practicality. Or maybe it’s ambition with relaxation. Or success with relaxation? I will figure out how to figure out balance. Dedication with nourishment. Excitement with patience.

I am happy. This is how I have always been and who I have always been. But at some point I transitioned from the girl who launched a happiness business and negotiated a four-day work week because she loved to travel so much to an executive, an exec who in the past several years has grown into someone who did more and took on more and leads more and forgets to dig back into the happiness website where she might have suggested to herself that she pause to put guardrails in place for herself, to make sure she stays happy. And that’s what this year’s peace is about: finding peace within building a life that honors wanting to be who I am and creating space for who I—and we—will become.

Possibly the most ridiculous travelogue to date: Aspen (always), Miami (work), Tahoe (super bowl), LA/Telluride (double wedding ridiculousness), Big Sky/Bozeman, Taos, Miami (work), Miami (work), Jamaica (work), Houston, Chicago (work), Bend/Willamette, Bend, Miami (work), Houston, Redondo Beach, Corpus Christi, Phoenix, Pagosa to Park City to Black Hawk (road trip), DC (work), Idaho Springs, Park City, Dallas, New Orleans (work, 8 hours), Idaho Springs <3
