World’s Greatest Dad

Thank you to Yahoo! Mail for sponsoring this post about staying connected. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do. Sorry for the random “Email 2” post all weekend! Sometimes things go awry when you’re on the road back from Denver and you have no internet and then…

Modern Courtship

Thank you to Yahoo! Mail for sponsoring this post about staying connected. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do. You guys may not know, but the Vermonster and I took a very long time to get together. I very very sneakily pursued him for…

BeKnown

I will preface this entire post by saying that I love LinkedIn. I love that it’s all professional. I love that it’s clean, white, and boring in design. I love that I can see who has viewed my profile—at least, in what industry—and then guess at why they were looking at me. I hate when…

Barefoot

Since it’s summer, I’ve been walking around totally barefoot. No barefoot shoes. Just toes in the grass, on the dirt, whatever. I took an hour walk with the dawg barefoot. 30 minutes at the park. Being totally, completely, 100% barefoot is AWESOME.

My Favorite Places

For an advisory position I’m fulfilling this coming week (more about that later!), I had to list my favorite places. As I sat down with both Austin and Aspen categories, I realized that the majority of my fave places are fitness-and-outdoors-related. No surprise, right? In Aspen: Bleeker Street, King Yoga, Rio Grande Trail, Jimmy’s, and…

Love

That Ripped Guy of Mine(TM): “Ugh, do you have to hug me all the time?” Me: “You should be happy I like you.” That Ripped Guy of Mine(TM): “I am.”

Soapbox: Raw Milk is Awesome for You

To: consumer@fda.gov To whom it may concern:   I’d like to voice my support for Amish farmer Dan Allgyer, who was the subject of a recent FDA “bust.” I wholeheartedly disapprove of the FDA’s interference with voluntary, private contracts between farmers and private citizens. It is a waste of my tax dollars to “bust” farmers…

.com

I finally took my Level 1 cert test this weekend. I got certified over a year ago, but they changed the standards to be accredited so I had to take a new test—I passed! 🙂 But it also reminded me a little something about the CrossFit Kool-Aid. SO much of what CrossFit is about is…

Dance in the Rain

I’ve alluded to my personal challenges and stress of late. Similar to making lemonade of lemons, I’m dancing in the rain while I figure out where the hell my umbrella is … or where I’m seeking shelter. From garage door at the Aspen CrossFit gym.

My Weak Link

I recently read this article and it struck home: The Healthy Skeptic’s The Biggest Obstacle to Perfect Health is Your Mind. In it, Chris Kresser talks about identifying your weakness instead of tweaking your strengths. His example is food, and I think it resonates with me: why am I tweaking food when I already eat pretty…
