you are my celebrity

The Vegas

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Southwest Airlines Vacations for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

So long as we’re making my life in Orange County look like the TV show The O.C., might as well make a “The Vegas” reference, right?

It’s a hop, skip, and barely a jump away from SNA, The John Wayne Orange County Airport, so everyone here in Orange County heads to Sin City like it ain’t no thang.

I’m gonna preface this Vegas talk with this disclaimer: I don’t love Vegas. I don’t love to gamble. As much as I joke about the celeb thing, I’m not actually trying to be or pretending to be famous. BUT there are two things I love about Vegas …

1. Here’s the rub: sometimes you have friends all over the country, and sometimes you want to see them, and sometimes the cheapest thing to do is meet in Vegas. Southwest Airlines Vacations has Las Vegas Vacations packages from every single one of the SWA departure cities (and packages to 80+ other destinations to boot). It’s not expensive.

And sometimes that’s all it takes. Because there are insane pools to be had in Vegas. There is beautiful glass in the Bellagio lobby, there are tigers at the Mirage, there are carnival games at Circus Circus. And. The. Food. There are things to love. I even have family and friends who live in Las Vegas. I mean there are downsides to living anywhere— see this old post, the 10 Worst Things About Living In _______________ including both Austin AND Aspen, near paradises …

2. Vegas is the land of sequins. We know how much I love sequins—I recently had a friend ask if I own any NON-sparkly shoes (yes, but they’re not my faves)—so an entire city covered in all things shiny is indeed fun for me. It’s like how Halloween is an excuse for girls to be a Slutty Whatever, Vegas is an excuse for girls to be Shiny Whatever. (Also sometimes Slutty, but hey, it’s Vegas!)

In summary: Girlfriends and glitter. Vegas, you’re alright.
