Amazing Plant-Based Supps: Ora

I am a red-meat-eatin’ Texan (grass-fed only, duh), but I’m also a good dirty hippie who loves her some clean, plant-based products like these beauties. This brand-new line of supplements—protein, probiotics, and Omega-3 spray—being produced right here in Southern California (LA) is called Ora: ora.organic. I love these products.

Ora claims to be the first supplements company to produce all their vitamins, minerals and nutrients using only plants; eliminating all chemicals, fillers and artificial ingredients. Their mission is transparency, so consumers can trust what’s in their supplements.

As someone who spends a LOT of time reading labels, I like this. I also love the gorgeous packaging. But let’s get down to what you really wanna know: how are the supps?

The. Protein. Is. Amazing.

It bakes amazing.

It tastes amazing.

It has amazing macronutrient ratios: 6g C / 2g F / 18g P, 110 cal (1g sugar)

The ingredients: Organic Sprouted Rice, Organic Pea, Organic Flax Seed, Organic Hemp, Organic Sprouted Quinoa, Organic Sachi Inchi, Organic Sprouted Amaranth, Organic Acai Berry, Organic Blueberry, Organic Maqui Berry, Organic Blackberry, Organic Strawberry, Organic Spirulina, Organic Chlorella, Organic Kale, Organic Broccoli, Organic Wheat Grass, Organic Oat Grass, Organic Barley Grass, Organic Parsley, Organic Dandelion

Now, we can argue about plant protein vs. animal protein sources but the bottom line is that variety never hurt anyone, I was eating too much whey, and I am beyond happy to have a delicious, nutritious, perfect plant protein to both drink and bake with.

I could stop there, but I also tried the probiotic and Omega-3 spray. The former might be awesome, it might not be, I don’t really know—I’m pretty regular, if you get what I’m sayin’ (and you do). The latter, however, is awesome because it’s a spray. So you just spray this slightly sweet Omega 3 oil in your mouth, don’t subject yourself to the godawful slimy texture of literally any other fish oil on the market, and get all those omegas everyone is raving about (hair, nails, all-around health, life, vitality) but from microalgae. Breakdown: Total Omega 3s 915mg: DHA 500mg, EPA 250mg, Other Omega 3s165mg + D3 1000IU

Explore the website if you want more gorgeous photography and scientific references: ora.organic. Buy the protein if you wanna mix up your powdered protein sources*—or bake absolutely delicious protein baked goods with excellent mouthfeel. Ora is a new staple for me.
