20140617-140846-50926289.jpgFaux celebs like me love being stopped and asked about things they’re wearing—it happens more than you think, especially when you’re wearing as unusual a watch as this. I’ve recently been on a watch search, tired of checking my phone (is anyone getting the sense I’m just tired of my phone?) for the time but not really ready to commit to a watch—do I want an everyday watch? A statement watch? Needless to say, I was thrilled when JORD Wood Watches reached out to me: their wood watches are absolutely gorgeous. Jord means “earth, soil, land” in Swedish—a nod to their obviously earthy ethos.

But the beautiful timepieces are designed with contemporary lines, so they’re a juxtaposition on your wrist. Obviously, I am in love—there’s little I like as much as a study in contrasts. Maybe setting trends, which I could be doing right now … Jord Watch—fixin’ to be watch of the stars.

Pictured on me is the Delmar in Green ($149), a big ole boys watch with a super masculine feel. There are, of course, smaller, daintier watches, but let’s be honest: nobody expected me to pick that. So far, I’ve embraced pairing this earthy watch with feminine skirts and heels. How would you style this watch if you had the chance? BECAUSE YOU DO. One lucky reader will WIN a JORD watch like mine! All you gots to do is leave a comment below before June 24 at midnight. Tell me how you’d wear the Jord Delmar, or tell me about your day, or tell me something you’re grateful for… Just lemme know you wanna win!

Now the question you’ve really been wondering: how the eff do you keep an all-natural, untreated wooden watch clean? They say: If at any time your watch looks lighter or starts to change in appearance, we recommend that you apply a natural coating such as beeswax, lip balm, butcher block oil, or walnut oil. Regular application can help to protect it against damage and improve the durability of the wood while helping to maintain the moisture balance (prevent drying or cracking). They just told me to put lip balm on my watch. It’s funny. I digress.

For best cleaning results, mix two tablespoons each of olive oil and lemon juice. Apply a small amount to a soft cotton cloth. Wring the cloth to spread the mixture further into the material and apply to the wood using brisk strokes (This helps distribute the oil evenly).

A watch that wants me to clean it like a dirty hippie? As if I could love it more.

Pictured below is the watch in daylight and in office light—you can see it really changes color based on the lighting around it (you can also see how weird my skin looks in fluorescents).
