I am a creator of award-winning websites. Literally, alorica.com just won a prestigious award (for its News Center, but still!).
For my job, I also make various other websites, which will never win awards but serve their purpose. In my very first job, my boss/mentor told me “you design websites for the Lowest Common Denominator. Not for you. For the least smart person you can think of.”
Flash forward ten years, this adage that has colored my world since he imparted it upon me comes into play when, after debuting a new website, the President of the line of business which this website serves, replies:
I like it. Definitely meets the least sophisticated consumer measurement in my opinion.
As per most Compliment-or-Insults, this was definitely a compliment based on the business and legal requirements for that website, but it still struck me as very funny.
