From about eighth grade on, my life revolved around basketball—pickup, practice, drills, rec league, school teams, AAU, open gyms, the sport court we built just for me on the side of our house. My high school and early college experiences centered around basketball, and I loved it. I love sports, teams, camraderie, physicality, training, playing, success.
But I didn’t play much basketball after moving to OC—beach volleyball and football took over my athletic time. In the past week, though, I’ve gone to play twice, and am loving it. It’s so much fun to be back on the court, running, cuttting, shooting, scoring, boarding, besting dudes and getting my shot blocked by others … I am so grateful for the game of basketball.
I am grateful for the confidence, friendships, and swagger basketball gave me.
